Biography
Dr. Gordon Huang is a Professor & Canada Research Chair at the Faculty of Engineering and Executive Director at the Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities, University of Regina, Regina, Canada.
His research interests include planning of energy and environmental systems, synchrotron-based environmental chemistry and biochemistry, climate modeling and downscaling, and simulation of hydrological and environmental systems.
He was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Science from McMaster University, a Fellow from the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Canada Research Chair Tier 1. He is a Chief Scientist for the Program of Rural Water Resources Management and Drinking Water Safety, United Nations Development Programme, and awarded with University of Regina Alumni Association Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, Canada. He has more than 200 research grants and contracts and 8 NSERC Strategic Grants, plus over 20 other NSERC grants. He is having more than 1000 peer-refereed international journal publications.
Dr. Huang supervised over 100 graduate students (with degrees awarded), including 44 Ph.D., 54 M.A.Sc. (Thesis Option), 25 M.Eng. (Project Option), 49 B.A.Sc. (4th-Yr Project). Over 20 of his Ph.D. graduates were appointed as faculty members at universities in Canada, the USA, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.
