Biography

An Egyptian Professor of oral medicine and periodontology, born in 1973, graduated from the faculty of oral & dental medicine, at Cairo University in 1996. He finished his master’s degree in oral medicine and periodontology from the college of dentistry at Suez Canal university in 2003 and then DDS from the same university in 2007. Prof. Hossam is working as Associate Dean of Clinical, Supervisor of postgraduate studies, MDS Periodontics program Director, Dental internship program Director, and Assessment committee member College of Dentistry GMU for the last five years. He finished five funded research grants from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai with more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed indexed international journals. He is significantly contributed as a team member in the accreditation of the BDS program and team leader of the accreditation of MDS Periodontics and dental internship programs. In 2012 Prof. Hossam and his team succeeded in recording new bacterial strains in GenBank Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Prof. Hossam with team members of the Periodontics division graduated two batches of the MDS Periodontics program with students’ research  publications (5)  in Scopus-indexed Q2 & Q3 journals.

 Prof. Hossam was awarded a master’s degree in health profession education offered by GMU in collaboration with FAIMER, in November 2020. Prof. Hossam is writing articles in Arabic newspapers for community awareness about periodontal diseases and their impact on systemic health in a simplified way for Arabic speakers. Prof. Hossam has been nominated by CAA UAE to lead the development of the MDS Periodontics program competency framework offered by all Universities inside the UAE. He participated as an external examiner of the thesis defense panel of MDS Periodontics program students, at the University of Sharjah. External examiner of final year students, RAK University.
