Dr. Suvankar Chakraverty

Title: KTaO3 – The new kid on the spintronics block


Currently he is working as Associate Professor, Nanoscale Physics and Device Laboratory, Institute of Nano Science & Technology, Mohali, Punjab. Dr Suvankar received his Ph.D. in Material Physics from S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in the year 2006. He did his Masters in Physics from University of Calcutta, India in, 2000. He worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India during 2007-2008. In 2008, Dr Suvankar was the Visiting Researcher in the Dept. of Engineering Sciences, The Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden He was selected for the most prestigious JSPS-GCOE Postdoctoral Fellow and completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship during 2008-2010 at Tohoku University. Later Dr Suvankar has worked as Research Scientist in The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, (RIKEN), Wako, Japan in 2013. He received Marubun research grant award 2010, Tokyo Japan. Dr Suvankar, received prestigious fellowship from The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher education to work at Uppsala University (Sweden) with Prof. Per Nordblad on Magnetic Tunnel Junctionand Exchange Bias. He received Best Paper Presentation Awards in Kinkenwakate2008,Japan and at 16th International Workshop on Oxide Electronics Tarragona Spain,2009. His research interests include Design new materials in form of thinfilms, interface or superlettice for magneto-opto-electronic devices and understanding their physical properties.
