Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mandal was born in 1967 in West Bengal, He is recipient of National Scholarship during School and College studies. He got BVSc & AH from Bidhan Chandra Krishi
Vishwavidyalaya, WB, in 1991 and did his MVSc & PhD majoring in Livestock Products Technology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar in the year 1993 and 1996, respectively.
He worked as scientist for 5 months in ICAR. He joined as Assistant Professor in Dept. of Livestock Products Technology in September 1996, in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education & Research (Pondicherry University). He was promoted as Associate Professor in March, 2005 and Professor from January, 2012.
Dr. Mandal is teaching several UG and PG courses related to Livestock Products Technology for 26th year, engaged in research on Meat Science and Technology for 30 years and guided 20 PG students as Chairman, Co-chairman, members. Presently he is working on development of functional meat and dairy foods with natural preservatives and functional additives. He worked as Visiting Professor in Hankyong National University, South Korea and Konkuk University, Seoul from March, 2008 to February, 2010. He was Associate Editor/Editor, Journal of Meat Science published by IMSA since 2003-13.
Presently, Dr. Mandal is, President of Indian Meat Science Association, Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Meat Science (since 2009), Journal of Meat Science (since 2014) and Journal of Food & Nutrition Research (since 2012). Besides, he is Editor/reviewer for many other National & International Journals of repute and Member of Asian Council of Science Editors. He has Edited advance reference books “Animal Products Technology” “Meat Quality Analysis” and
authored text books on “Poultry, Egg and Fish Processing Technology” and “Practical Meat Science” for PG level and text books “Abattoir, Byproducts and Wool” and “Handbook of Meat Science” for U.G. Veterinary students, Indigenous Meat Products of India and 3 more Monograms.
Dr. Mandal is a Fellow of Indian Poultry Science Association, Indian Meat Science Association and International Society for Research & Development. He is enlisted in “Marques WhosWho” in the World 33rd Edition, 2016, and Top 100 Educators, 2016 by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge. Received DSc (hc) from IASR, UK (2020), Life Time Achievement Award from VDGOOD (2020), JMS Best Research Paper Award, (2018, 2020), IMSA Best Teacher Award (2021), Best Researcher award (2022). He is working as expert for the discipline of Livestock Products Technology for many university, as paper setter, PG & PhD examiner and CAS. Also working as paper setter/evaluator and expert for CAS for ASRB (ICAR) New Delhi.
He has published 60 research papers, 15 books, 31 book chapters, 25 review papers, 33 invited papers, 52 papers in Symposium, 4 lab manuals, and 3 popular articles (total-223) related to Meat Science, Food Science, Poultry Science, Animal Science & Biotechnology in National and
International Journals/ Publisher. He has published 90 YouTube (Prof LPT) Lectures on Livestock Products Technology.
